As we get older small pockets of fat develop in various locations on your body. These problem fat areas can be difficult to get rid of with even with proper diet and exercise. Liposuction can remove this unsightly stubborn areas and will sculpt your body into a more sensual pleasing contour giving you a symmetrical physique.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves the removal of excess fat from specific areas and can basically be done almost anywhere on the body, including the hips, buttocks, abdomen, knees, arms, neck. Liposuction is also commonly done with other plastic surgery procedures such as breast reduction or tummy tuck.
It’s important to note that there are quite a few different liposuction procedure types. First there is the Tumescent Liposuction technique that involves the use of the wetting solution that is infused into the area before fat is removed. The wetting solution contains saline and medications to ease removal of fat deposits.
Another liposuction technique called laser Liposuction or smart lipo uses a laser energy to heat fat deposits turning them semi soft and making it easier to remove. This technique tends to have less bruising and a faster recovery time.
Ultrasound assisted liposuction uses sound waves to break down the fat cells before they are removed. The ultrasound energy allows for a gentler and less dramatic fat removal experience. This technique works best on the hips, back and midsection.
The ideal prospects for liposuction are individuals whose weight falls in a normal range but have excess fat deposits on specific areas of their body. Individuals with skin that is elastic and firm will achieve the best results from liposuction.
If you are considering liposuction, you need to have realistic expectations about what liposuction can do for you and its outcome. Liposuction can noticeably enhance your appearance but, like all other surgeries, it’s not a miraculous solution for everything that you dislike about your body.
In general, liposuction risks are considered minimal although of course with any type of surgery there are risks and complications and this is something you need to discuss with our board certified surgeons at Boris Cosmetic.
After the liposuction procedure is completed a compression garment may be used in the treated areas. Expect bruising and swelling for at least several weeks. The results of the Liposuction procedure can last a long time, however if you gain significant weight the results can be reversed. Its important to note that Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure, it’s not a treatment for being overweight or obesity. And can not replace the need for regular exercise or good eating habits. So it’s important to know it’s not a weight reduction procedure.
