Face Lift

Face lift – a revolutionary procedure that gives the face a new glow. The face is a very moving area with about two dozen muscles. During the day they are constantly in motion: we communicate, eat, smile, and express various emotions. This is where the first expression lines come from. In addition, we can’t cancel out the decrease in the elasticity of tissues and the laws of gravity. The speed and intensity of all these processes are also influenced by natural factors – genetics, skin density and dryness, quality of facial care, and age.

Aging is an inevitable process. First of all, its signs are evident on the face – the skin loses its elasticity, stretches, wrinkles, nasolabial folds appear, “double chin” is formed. Of course, all this does not look very aesthetically pleasing, especially on women’s faces. Fortunately, the possibilities of modern plastic surgery can significantly extend the youthfulness of the face skin, make it healthy and more attractive.

A facelift is a surgery that can correct almost all age-related changes. During the operation, the skin of your face and neck is corrected and excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. As a result of this procedure, you will look, on average, ten years younger.

Who needs a face lift?

How do you know if you need a facelift?

  • Visually, your facial features appear to have “slid down”.
  • The shape of your face has changed, blurred.
  • Wrinkles have deepened, giving your face a “wrinkled” appearance.
  • The corners of your eyes and lips droop heavily.
  • Various cosmetics and facial treatments are not helping

If you find at least one of these points, it is a reason to think about visiting a plastic surgeon. As we said before, aging is a natural and progressive process. There are many factors: the loss of tissue elasticity due to decreased production of collagen, lifestyle, hormonal background, and even a sudden weight loss.

How is the surgery carried out?

Facelifting can be performed both on the entire face and in some areas. As a rule, facelifts are performed zonally:

  • In the upper third of the face (forehead and temporal area);
  • In the middle third of the face (temporal, zygomatic, and mandibular areas);
  • In the lower third of the face (mandibular, chin, and neck areas).

The standard incision for a face and neck lift begins in front of the ear, bypassing the lobe, continues behind the ear, and ends in the scalp of the occipital region. The skin is then lifted and tightened to the condition in which it was 10-15 years ago.

After surgery, intradermal stitches and a bandage are applied. A facelift is performed under general or local anesthesia and lasts on average about two hours. Facelifting can be performed in combination with liposuction of the chin or cheeks.

Recovery after surgery

After facelift surgery, patients may feel weakness, temperature increase, and slight numbness of the face may occur. The symptoms go away within a few days. The timing depends on the general condition of the patient and the complexity of the procedure. The basic healing process takes an average of two weeks. Stitches are removed at the end of the first week after surgery.

Compliance with the doctor’s recommendations will help avoid complications. After two weeks, you will be able to return to your normal lifestyle. However, the first time you must be especially careful to look after the skin, refuse to take a sauna, avoid sunlight exposure, limit physical activity.

Fully assessing the effect of a circular facelift can be about six months, but the result will be visible almost immediately. Re-surgery will not be required before ten to fifteen years.
